at what has happened, they said the u.n. ambassador to say that this was because of a protest in the youtube video. it took the president two weeks to the knowledge that this was a terrorist attack. he went to the u.n. and he said six times he talked about the youtube video. if we are hit by terrorists, we're going to call it. our ambassador in paris has a marine detachment guarding him. shouldn't we have a marine detachment guarding our ambassador in benghazi? this is becoming more troubling by the day. the first blame the youtube video, now they're blaming the romney-ryan ticket. host: talk about the role of the intelligence community. guest: clearly, they have a huge role. you rely on your intelligence community to give you that information. we're talking about a country where come up for decades, we did not have access. a country that is in the middle of civil war. i consider environment where the information could be changing by the minute. if the administration says the information they were operating under, that is information that will come out in the process, that is

to announce this was a terrorist attack. he went to the u.n. talked about the youtube video six times. if we are hit by terrorists, we will call it what it is, a terrorist attack. our ambassador in tehran has a marine detachment guarding him. should we not have the same for our ambassador in benghazi, a place where we knew there was a al qaeda cell with arms? this is becoming more troubling by the day. now they're trying to blame the romney-ryan ticket for making this an issue. >> i will be very specific. number one, this lecture on embassy security, the congressman cut embassy security in his budget by $300 million below what we asked for. so much for the embassy security. number two, governor romney, before he even knew that our ambassador was killed, he was out making political statements and was panned by the media around the world. and this talk about weakness, i don't understand what my. friend is my. >> what were you first told about the attack? why were people talking about protests when people in the consulate's first saw armed men attacking at the fence, there were no protestors? g

to be struggling under another u.n. envoy. the problem that is the u.s. and many others had hoped that by working with russia, because of the dependence on russia for a lot of the military equipment and other support that they could convince assa do end the repression if he did not step aside begin to think about a transition. that approved unable. they were not able to sustain that efficient. they argued and continued to side with the syrian line that this is, these are dangerous foreign fighters. this is a terrorist campaign, and that others are provoking this, that the syrian regime is simply trying to defend the sovereignty. the diplomatic course is not promising still, but i think neededs to be renewed commitment to the effort to tri to work the european union and the gulf states to tri to end this because what we have seen now with the potential for the side withening, widening conflict. the other option is the notion of equipping the syrian army directly. this has been an idea that has been out there for sim time. they have been getting weapons. the u.s. has revided at least openly said it

, some i do not know as much about. i do not know specifically about the u.n. tax, but foreign aid is always a topic that people grumble about, how much the nation is spending helping countries around the world, especially during this time in the u.s. economy when so many americans have been struggling. i will say foreign aid is a small percentage of the budget when you look at the broader all they said the government has. -- outlays that the government has. i think the number is about 1%. i know those that support foreign aid will say is a slice and it does do a certain amount of work the state department believes is important in terms of helping friends and allies around the world. i'm sorry i do not know more about the specific tax. as part of the nation's new health care law that was passed in 2010, there is going to be provisions where health care providers will be taxed or fined if they are not meeting standards in patient care. that is part of the effort to bring down the cost of providing patient care by penalizing those providers that are not hitting standards. so, what th

: mccain. host: we have dennis from ohio. birthplace of neil armstrong. wire u.n. decided this morning? caller: -- why are you undecided this monring? -- morning? did this help to bring some clarity to you? caller: no. the vice president kept interrupting his coworker. he laughed a lot. i don't know if he thought the issues were funny. as far as the president and his running mate, obama said he has created a lot of jobs so the unemployment goes down, but he does not say whether that was manufacturing jobs, flipping hamburgers someplace, and and his cohort says if he gets elected, he will create 12,000 new jobs right away. well, are they in manufacturing? are they going to make government bigger than it is? neither party is clear on anything as far as i am concerned. as far as foreign policy, every time a foreign country sneezes, the united states has to run over to wipe their nose. we have spent millions of dollars over there in wars we are not going to win. i cannot see staying over there and getting our soldiers killed for nothing. that is what i think of the their party. host: that
